Why Support This Film?

Getting Hooked on Growth produced and then seen by a wide audience is a collaborative effort. Already many bloggers and activists are pitching in. We have a volunteer in Australia transcribing interviews, a volunteer in California reviewing our grant proposals, and volunteers across the U.S. and UK helping out with research.

This is a non-profit project, not a money-making endeavor, and one of the reasons is that Dumb & Dumber III has a better chance of getting theatrical or broadcast release than a documentary about our economy, population and consumption.

When Robert Greenwald released Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price, during one week the film achieved 7,000 screenings at house parties and non-profit events attended by 500,000. This was accomplished by building a huge on-line network of supporters – people who believed the film needed to be seen. Many ordered the DVD and arranged a house party for viewing. Some lined up community meeting rooms and held screenings for their non-profit organizations. Thousands in Greenwald’s network have made financial contributions to help ensure his important work gets produced.

We at Growthbusters think this model makes sense. We need your help to make it happen.
