Description of Growthbusters Project- Long
Hooked on Growth: Our Misguided Quest for Prosperity
is a documentary film that asks the most critical question of our time: How do we become a sustainable civilization?

It takes a unique approach among modern environmental documentaries: Rather than dispensing facts about climate change; peak energy, food and water; and bio-diversity loss, it examines the cultural barriers that prevent us from acting rationally. It asks why population conversations are so difficult to have, and why a roaring economy is more important to us than a survivable planet. It looks into the psychology of denial and crowd behavior. It explores our obsession with community growth and economic growth.

Hooked on Growth holds up a mirror, encouraging us to examine the beliefs and behaviors we must leave behind, and the values we need to embrace, in order that our children can survive and thrive.

Medium-Length Story
If you found a project that addressed the root cause of the world’s most urgent issues (peak energy, peak food, peak water, climate change, bio diversity loss), would you help make it happen?

Well, I’ve discovered such a project: Hooked on Growth, a non-profit documentary examining our society’s worship of growth everlasting. It explores the biggest issue or our time: What are the addictions and myths we must leave behind, and what are the values we need to embrace, in order to become a sustainable civilization?

We’ve all seen great documentaries over the past few years. Hooked on Growth takes the next step, and does it in an entertaining, provocative way. It’s a pull-no-punches look in the mirror that will attract mainstream attention in a way few of those films have.
